FEATURED BAND
Music Foundation Band of Dasmariñas, Inc.
The Music Foundation Band of Dasmariñas, was founded by some of the known musicians of Dasmariñas, namely Major Antonio Arboleda, Mr. Hardie Hayag, Mr. Udoy Hayag, Mr. Ermin Antonio. Arch. Ernesto Reyes, thru the kindess of Mr. Angelito Veluz and his family with the help of Hon. Recto M. Cantimbuhan. Previous band instructors, Ms. Vilma Arboleda and Mr. Arthur Arboleda first trained the pioneers of the band.
MFBD was officially launched and registered as a foundation in year 2000. With almost fifty members, the band had their first recital at the Dasmariñas Elementary School multi-purpose hall in April of the said year. Since then, yearly summer workshops are provided for free by trainors and old members of the band. Funds are raised in order to provide members with their uniforms and instruments.
Year 2001, Mr. Ermin Antonio, Mr. Romeo Manela and the late Mr. Udoy Hayag took over the baton together with the son of Mr. Itan Veluz, Mr. Gian Angelo Veluz. The band held summer workshops every year which made a bigger MFBD Family with more than one hundred members and more and more supporters. Being one of the two bands of Dasmariñas, members and officials are truly proud that they have had more than a hundred awards and recognitions received in performing in town feast and other musical events in the country.
Last May 2011 the band was awarded by Hon. Mayor Jennifer Barzaga and Congressman Pidi Barzaga for winning the grand prize for the first ever National Marching Band competion held at Bacoor, Cavite.
The band had also performed twice at Luneta for “Concert at the Park” with Mr. Reynato Resurreccion and Mr. Mark Lenin Cantimbuhan, as Mr. Ermin Antonio’s co-conductors.
It is not only the musical training that the band provides but as well as educational assistance for the members.
Top universities and colleges such as University of the Philippines, Adamson University, University of the East, University of Perpetual Help, De La Salle University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, had given full scholarships to the members.
Presently, the band has one hundred and fourty members and is still competing with the top bands of the country.
